Colombia: A Birding Hotspot

Join Redwood Region Audubon Society on Friday, May 14 for a free public lecture by Christopher Calonje on “Colombia: A Birding Hotspot.” Calonje, who is president of a new bird-watching tour company that specializes in tours to Colombia, will speak about the country’s geography, people, food, infrastructure, and the incredible diversity of birds found within its borders. With only 1% of the world’s landmass, Colombia boasts 19% of the world’s species of birds, having more than North America and Europe combined. The talk will start at 7:30 p.m. at the Humboldt County Office of Education at Myrtle and West Avenues in Eureka. Bring a mug to enjoy shade-grown coffee.
