Antigone

What:

The College of the Redwoods Drama department opens “Antigone”, by Sophocles, at the Forum Theatre for a two weekend run beginning March 11 through the 21st.

Known primarily for presenting comedies with a classical emphasis, the critically acclaimed “Production Program” at CR will celebrate its eighth season with a classic Greek Tragedy.

“Antigone” is the powerful story of a young woman who is forced to stand alone against repression and injustice.  An ancient tale perhaps, but one that mirrors one of the chief political concerns of our own century:  the needs of the individual versus the needs of the state.

CR invites audiences to take advantage of a rare opportunity to witness this version of Sophocles’ timely and relevant play.

Performance dates are March 11, 12, 13, and 18, 19, 20 at 8:00 p.m., and matinee’s on March 14 and 21 at 2:00 p.m.

Tickets will be available at The Works in Eureka and Arcata, and at the CR Bookstore.  Discount tickets will be sold at the door before performances only.  No reservation is necessary.
