What:
The Dance Alliance repertoire encompasses many forms including ballet, ballroom, swing, tap, jazz, world and contemporary movements. The company strives to keep its music, costuming and choreography family appropriate.
Since its creation in the early 1970s, the group has performed at various locations across the world including El Salvador, Panama, Mexico, Brazil, New Zealand, Fiji, Belarus, Ukraine and Austria. In 2006 Dance Alliance performed in South America while in 2009 the dancers toured Russia.
“Many hours of rehearsal and extensive attention to detail goes into a Dance Alliance production,” said Wendy Bone, artistic director for Dance Alliance. “Each performance is more than great entertainment; it is designed to reflect the inherent rhythms and movement of life itself.”
Bone is originally from Arizona but has been teaching and directing dance companies at BYU-Idaho for eleven years. Bone holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Arizona State University in dance kinesiology and a Master of Arts degree in choreography and performance from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.
BYU-Idaho is located in Rexburg, Idaho, and serves about 20, 000 students from all 50 states and over 40 countries. Prior to September 2001, BYU-Idaho was known as Ricks College, which was founded in 1888 by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
