Major Annual Fundraiser for The Ink People Center for the Arts
The Ink People Center for the Arts Annual Benefit Gala never ceases to inspire and this year’s Bollywood Extravaganza is a unique celebration you don’t want to miss! The Artware Affair will be filled with exciting entertainment, fabulous food, decadent desserts and an incredible auction from local artists.
Eureka, California, March 20, 2010—The 2010 Annual Benefit Gala for The Ink People Center for the Arts is a celebration of the depth and richness of East Indian culture through the eyes and minds of local artists. All proceeds from this event go to supporting our art, cultural and service programs such as the MARZ Project youth after school analog & digital arts, Rural Burl Mural Bureau, and 54 community-initiated DreamMaker projects.
This amazing evening will include live and silent art auctions featuring the work of many top artists of the North Coast with auctioneer Amy Berkowitz of KHUM. The Artware Affair will offer mouth-watering food by Ms. M’s Catering and a delightful themed Dessert As Art competition. This year is the 13th Annual Dessert as Art Competition and we’re looking forward to seeing Humboldt’s talented culinary artists create works of art based on such an exciting theme.
When you arrive there will be a photo area with dress-up items, a henna artist to decorate you, and amazing music and dance to help create the ambiance and transport you to another realm!
Ya Habibi Dance Company has been hard at work creating a new BOLLYWOOD piece just for Artware Affair! Ya Habibi Dance Company helps represent Mosaic Productions at this event, producers of the annual Redwood Coast Belly Dance Festival and a DreamMaker Program of The Ink People. Ya Habibi dancers will also be helping with the photo booth, applying henna and showcasing art during the live auction.
Bandemonium, a community driven music ensemble, will also be performing during the Artware Affair. They are a champion of community involvement, a leading supporter of local charities and a DreamMaker Program of the Ink People. The group offers everything from folk to klezmer to anti-war and galician bagpipe music. They even have some Bollywood repertoire that they’ll be pulling out for this event!
A subset of the group Gamelan Sekar Sequoia will be performing during our Bollywood Extravaganza as well! Gamelan Sekar Sequoia specializes in traditional Central Javanese repertoire, working on imported bronze instruments. We are delighted to have them!
