Dreamdate, The Monster Women and Medicine Ball

What:

Dreamdate, The Monster Women and Medicine Ball, plus short films between bands Thursday, June 4, at Arcata Theatre Lounge, 1036 G St in Arcata. Doors open at 9 p.m. Cost is $5 and is 18 and over.

Dreamdate get right to their business of brightening our day with their short, snappy tunes. The overall sound of Dreamdate can readily be spoken of in the same breath as early ’90s crush worthy indie pop a la Lois, Cub and Tiger Trap. As the unaffected and unaffected electric guitars strum away happily and the drums keep things simple with an uncluttered beat, you might find yourself hummin’ along with these gals’ warm, smooth female vocals. Nice. Aquarius Records April 2007.

The Monster Women are a hip shakin’, electro, girl (and a boy),  pop band from outer space. Started in early 2004 in an Garage far, far, away, Aimee & Courtney (both from local Eureka punk band Automatic Pink) joined forces with Gary Silver (Peppyhen Records) and The Monster Women were created!

Medicine Ball is a new local noise folk acoustic band comprising of percussion, banjo, shakers, kazoo, violin, washtub bass and the sweetest personalities this side of the Mississippi.
