Don’t Tell Sophie and The Globes

What:

Don’t Tell Sophie and The Globes perform Thursday, July 9, at Arcata Theatre Lounge, 1036 G St in Arcata. Doors open at 9 p.m. Cost is $5 and is 18 and over.

Don’t Tell Sophie was formed in 2004 by Brandt Dettling and Paul Dally, guitarists studying at Tacoma School of the Arts. One reviewer has said that “there’s something completely satisfying about Don’t Tell Sophie’s brand of power pop. It’s the kind of stuff you can get stuck in your head for days and it won’t make you want to hang yourself. The same can’t be said for most power pop. With Don’t Tell Sophie it’s the norm.”

The Globes are a four piece band formed in the summer of 2007, though the members of the group (Walters, Musselwhite, Ourada, McCotter) have been writing and performing songs around the Pacific Northwest for over seven years. The band currently lives in a little blue house in Seattle where they devote their time to creating and recording their sounds. Their music is an original mix of loud, but melodic, guitar rock held together by a strong awareness of song structure and craft.
