The Dell'Arte International School of Physical Theatre is pleased to welcome back Donlin Foreman for an intense two day exploration in the interface between dance and theatre; and investigation into gesture, emotion and the kinetic demands of the contemporary physical theatre.
The Embodied Gesture*
For dancers, actors, movers, and creators
This Masterclass will be an exploration of emotion, intent, gesture, physicality, the inter-play between them and how they communicate resonant images from our lives. Students should bring their bodies, minds, and imaginations and be prepared to move.
Imagery, Contemporary Dance Technique, and Repertory
For intermediate to professional dancers
The process of discovering essential qualities of authentic expressive dancing. This class is rooted in Foreman's decades of work with Martha Graham, the development of his own acclaimed expressive repertory, and his years of teaching at Barnard College.
Both classes will bring the participants closer to an understanding of how we can craft images from our life experience using these dance and/or gestural techniques and how, by recognizing the vast body of knowledge that already exists within us, we become more able to communicate in our art as well as in our lives.
