County Planning Commission Meeting

What:

The Humboldt County Planning Commission will host a public hearing on the Draft Land Use Element beginning at 6:00 p.m. onThursday, December 17, 2009 in the Redway Elementary multipurpose room, off of Humboldt Avenue, Redway (see attached map). 

The purpose of this meeting is to receive public input on the Planning Commission Hearing Draft General Plan (GPU), focusing on the Land Use Element. The draft GPU was released on Thursday, November 20, 2008 and the Key Issues and Plan Alternatives Comparison Charts for the Land Use Element were released March 19, 2009. Both of these documents can be found on the county’s website at www.planupdate.org.  Since that time, there have been twelve public meetings on the Land Use Element.   Archived streaming of these meetings may be available on the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors website, http://county-internet/board/.

Public Participation Guides and Supporting Documents

Public Participation: Chapters 1, 2 and 3 of the draft General Plan provide an introduction explaining the purpose of the General Plan and a public guide to assist in the use of the document.  Those chapters can be found here: http://county-internet/gpu/documentsPlan.aspx

Background on the Plan Alternatives - Key Issues and Comparison Charts:The Plan Alternatives - Key Issues and Comparison Charts explain what the major issues are for these sections and list the goals, policies, standards, and implementation measures for Plan Alternatives A, B, C and D in one chart for comparison purposes.  Copies are available on the GPU website at http://county-internet/gpu/documentsKeyIssuesPlanAlt.aspx  and will also be available for viewing at the Humboldt County Library (all branches), Kinkos and the Community Development Services Department front counter.  Also available is a “Users Guide” that explains the format of the charts and how they will be used by the decision makers in their deliberation process for ultimately adopting a new General Plan for the County.
