Constitutional Classes

What:

Humboldt Tea Party Patriots are sponsoring Constitutional classes for the public on Thursday, October 22nd and November 5th.  Both classes will be held from 7-9 pm in the conference room at Humboldt Area Foundation, located off Highway 101 at 373 Indianola Road, Bayside.

“Our grassroots organization is based on the tenets and ideals of The Constitution,” explains Dorice Miranda, board president of Humboldt Tea Party Patriots.  She adds, “We feel it’s time to refresh ourselves on the greatest document ever inspired by mankind and we’ve asked three experts to lead these classes.”  The first class will define basic terminology, explain the origins/ background of the Constitution, and explore the meaning of The Constitution, while the November 5th class will continue the explanation of The Constitution, as well as the Bill of Rights.

One of the Constitutional experts is Gary Sokolow, a professor of Administration of Justice at College of the Redwoods, where he has been teaching both criminal justice and political science since 1988.   He has a Masters in History, as well as Juris Doctor, and has practiced both civil and criminal law for about ten years while serving as a county prosecutor and state legislator in the mid-west.

Another expert is Vickie B. Dickey, a sole practitioner in Crescent City, who was born and raised on a ranch/dairy. The third expert is Gene Owens, a Vietnam Veteran and decorated with the Purple Heart, he has a BA from the University of Dominguez Hills.  He is a teacher and the Marine Corp League’s Constitutional Officer.

There is no charge for the classes, but to help cover the cost of renting the room, donations will be accepted.  Childcare will not be provided so it is advised that children under seven stay home.  Seating is limited and will be allowed by reservation only.  Please RSVP to humbteapartypatriots@gmail.com or call Gwen at 498-3101.
