Compost Mountain Boys

What:

Fortuna Concert Series presents old-time bluegrass music of the Compost Mountain Boys on October 9th, 8:00 PM at the Monday Club in Fortuna.

The Compost Mountain Boys have been together since 1992, playing a variety of vocal and instrumental songs in the old-time bluegrass style.  They have entertained audiences at festivals and concerts, as well as parties and dances.

TIM WILSON is the banjo player.  He keeps the driving sound alive and brings his dynamic guitar style to the banjo.  He sings a few songs and writes some of the band’s original material.  BRUCE JOHNSON plays the stand-up bass and sings smooth lead and harmony vocals.  MIKE (Spumoni) MANETAS is a fine bluegrass singer and plays mandolin.  He brings many, many songs to the group and writes some of the band’s original music.

Long time Mountain Boy guitarist Michael Walker has left the band for a lucrative deal in his home State of Georgia.  So they’ve enlisted the help of their good friend, guitarist Marty Dodd.  Marty has been a singer song writer in the area for a long time, and founded the band Old Dog.

Concert time is 8:00 pm at the Fortuna Monday Club, 610 Main Street in Fortuna.  Ticket prices are General Admission $8;  Students and Seniors $6.  Pre-sale tickets are available at Green’s Fortuna Pharmacy in Fortuna, Fortuna Music Mart in Fortuna and Eureka; Becker’s Insurance Agency in Ferndale, Berliner’s Cornucopia in Eureka.  Tickets are also available at the door.  Doors open at 7:15 pm.  For general information, call  682-6092 or email fortunaconcert@live.com; for ticket information call 768-3118.
