Community Media Night Awards Ceremony

Access Humboldt will hold its first benefit “Community Media Night” on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at the Humboldt Bay Aquatic Center in Eureka.

The Event will take place between 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. and will include an awards ceremony hosted by Clint Rebik and Peggy Metzger, a blessing ceremony conducted by Cheryl A. Seidner, former Chairperson of the Wiyot Tribe, a silent auction and Dutch raffle, dinner by Hurricane Kate’s and music by the Spindrifters. Awards categories and awardees are:

Friends of Access Humboldt: Civic to David Tyson, City Manager for the City of Eureka; Friends of Access Humboldt: Education to Bob Steffen, former principal of Eureka High School, site of the new Community Media Center; Friends of Access Humboldt: Community to Rob Arkley, local businessman and former Board member; Broadband Advocate of the Year to Peter Pennekamp; Best Local Series award to Game of the Week, produced by Rick Macey; Best Youth Media Program to MARZ (Media & Arts Resource Zone) Project, a program of the Ink People, directed by Eileen McGee; Best Live Production to collaborative coverage of the 2010 Kinetic Grand Championship presented to Roy Frostenson, General Manager of media partner KIEM -News Channel 3; and Volunteer of the Year to John Bensch.
