What:
CASEY NEILL & THE NORWAY RATS are a crack gang of musicians from Portland Oregon who are coming to the Arcata Playhouse on Sunday, April 25. Their sound combines post-punk energy, narrative storytelling, haunting ballads, and whiskey fueled rave ups. Casey Neill tours extensively in the US, Japan, and the UK. His latest record ‘Brooklyn Bridge’ has garnered rave reviews from radio, online blogs, and press. A new record “Goodbye to the Rank and File” will be released in April 2010 and is the first to feature the full Norway Rats lineup including members of the Decemberists, Lucinda Williams Band, and the Minus 5. The Willamette Week compared Neill to Bruce Springsteen with these words, “Neill sounds like a grittier, more unpredictable version of a certain Mr. Springsteen. He shines with the Norway Rats” and his songs have been described as, “Soul-searing ” by the Utne Reader. Casey and his Rats will, no doubt, raise the roof their tour stop in Arcata. The show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $13 general and $10 students and are available at Wildwood Music, The Works or online at brownpaperticket.com. For additional information call (707) 822-1575. The Arcata Playhouse is located at 1251 9th street in Arcata.
