Callow (indie rock)

What:

Oakland-based indie band, Callow, comes to Humboldt this July for one show, bringing with them a reputation for having a sound that is raw, moody, and unmistakably their own.

Red Moses (lead vocals, guitar) and Tim Watson (bass) have been playing together for eight years, but when they moved to the bay area and teamed up with lead guitarist Rob Goodson (Thought Riot, Silent Film Stars) and percussionist Sami Knowles, their music morphed into a style of dark indie folk that has an almost orchestral quality. Mellow and melodic, sparse and haunting, brooding, breathy, and painfully beautiful… their songs leave the listener with far more questions than answers.

If their four track EP (recorded and mixed all analogue by Tyler Jensen and Alex Laipeneiks— founding member of Mr. T Experience), is any indication of what’s to come, the future of Callow is sure to be fascinating. Every word, every thoughtfully placed riff and restrained rhythmic nuance pulsates with honest, earnest inquiry that is delightfully easy on the ears.

A limited number of hand-stamped CDs will be available for purchase at the show.
