Buddy Brown Blues Festival

What:

The Annual Buddy Brown Blues Festival returns to Blue Lake on Saturday, August 6 with a full day of homegrown blues in Perigot Park. Running from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., the lineup features Buddy Reed, The Uptown Kings, Sour Cream, The Greg Allen Band, Lost Dogs and Rick Park.

The festival is a project of the Blue Lake Blues Society and Humboldt Folklife and is a fundraiser for the HFS Folk School. The Blues Fest aims to present the best of local blues music, and is named in honor of the late Buddy Brown – a Blue Lake Blues musician who performed at the first Blues Fest in 2001, just a few months before he passed away.

Humboldt Folklife Society president Patrick Cleary says, “Buddy Brown was a very influential blues musician for many of us, and it is fitting that we keep his memory alive with this festival right in his own hometown. It is a great reminder that we have so many talented blues musicians living right here – this is an opportunity to showcase them and to help teach a whole new generation of musicians. “

Event delectables include onsite BBQ by Bless My Soul and beer from Mad River Brewery. Admission is $8 in advance (and for HFS members), or $10 general at the gate. Advance tickets are available at The Works in Eureka and People’s Records in Arcata. Children under 12 are admitted free of charge. More info at humboldtfolklife.org!

Schedule: 11 a.m. Rick Park, 12:15 p.m. Lost Dogs, 1:30 p.m. Greg Allen Band, 2:45 p.m. Buddy Reed, 4 p.m. Uptown Kings, 5:15 p.m. Sour Cream.
