The public is invited to the 2nd annual Blessing of the Bicycles on Saturday, May 14, 10 am, at Pacific Outfitters (parking lot at 7th and G Streets), Arcata. Based on a tradition begun at the Cathedral of Stain John the Divine in New York City and popularized around the country, the event will be brief – bicycles will be blessed, riders who have been injured or died during the past year will be remembered, and bicycle bells will be rung in celebration. The Reverend Sara Potter, Rector at St. Alban’s will officiate. Staff from Pacific Outfitters will be offering free safety inspections for bicycles before and after the event.
