Are you interested in going somewhere exotic this summer and getting hands on experience? If so join Marisol Cortes-Rincon on Monday - April 12 at 2:00PM at HsU, BSS Room No. 136.
http://www.humboldt.edu/humboldt/images/uploads/campusmap.pdf She will talk about the upcoming Belize Archaeology Field School she is offering this summer.
HSU Belize Archaeology Field School Dates: May 24 to June 21 The field school program involves survey, excavation at several Maya sites, and laboratory experience working directly with excavated Maya artifacts. Field techniques, lectures on Maya culture history and instruction concerning artifact analysis are provided during each session. The project area of the PfBAP is in northwestern Belize on land owned by the Programme for Belize, a Belizean controlled non-profit organization established in 1988. Learn archaeological techniques, visit ancient ruins and earn HSU units in these two courses: ANTH 306: Cultures of Belize (3) This course examines Belizean cultures, history and development. Students will study the impacts of ethnicity, class and gender experiences in various cultural practices, and examine the concepts of cultural identity and ethnic diversity in Belize. ANTH 357: Field Archaeology (3) The principal focus of the course will be instruction in the basic archaeology field techniques required both in cultural resource management and in more strict research settings.
