ARCATA – Humboldt State’s student-run media host a “Meet the Candidates forum” featuring the Arcata City Council candidates, on Monday, October 13, from 6-8:00 p.m. in the University Center Banquet room on the Humboldt State campus. All six candidates have agreed to appear at the event, and are available to field questions about topics relative to students and student issues. Citizens in attendance are given the opportunity to question each of the city council contenders. Confirmed candidates attending include Shane Brinton, Michael Winkler, Michael Machi, Jason Grow, Susan Ornelas and Geronimo Garcia. Students represent a major factor in Arcata's future, and student issues are a concern for the city’s leaders. “Humboldt State’s student population for the Fall 2008 semester is approximately 7,800 students,” said Paul Mann, public affairs officer for the University. All students, staff, faculty, community members and local media are invited to attend this free event.
