Look around! It’s Rhody time here on the north coast, festival and all: parade, concert, rhody show, with blossoms opening on trees and bushes all over the place. Fitting into the theme, the Eureka Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society will provide a Rhody 101 program for the Thursday, April 26 meeting: Eureka Woman’s Club, 1531 J Street, 7:00 p.m. The public is welcome to participate in the raffle, auction, refreshments, and program: Don Wallace will give “Six Steps to Success with Rhododendrons.” Bruce Palmer will provide a botanical note and a microscopic eyeful, “What Does That Mean? Lepidote, Elepidote.” And to spice it up, Nelda Palmer will demonstrate “How to Show Those Bloomers for Ribbons.” (The rhody show will be the following weekend.)
