Heart of the Redwoods Community Hospice is proud to present its Fifth Annual Brew and Barbeque on Saturday, July 11th. The fun starts at 4 PM at the Garberville Rodeo Grounds with beer tasting, mouth watering barbeque dinner and lively bluegrass music.
The local breweries serving outstanding local brews from 4-5PM include Eel River Brewery in Fortuna, Lost Coast Brewery in Eureka, Mad River Brewery in Blue Lake, and Six Rivers Brewery in Mckinleyville.
Dinner, starting at 4 PM, includes choice of barbecued Tri-tip Roasts, Marinated Tofu Fillets, or hot dogs for the kids, all prepared by Hospice’s renowned Flaming Chefs, with corn on the cob, grilled veggies, organic green salad and Brio garlic bread. Also included are cold watermelon and yummy chocolate chip cookies. Micro-brewed beer, wine and soda will be offered for sale.
Toe-tapping knee-slapping bluegrass music starts at 4 PM with Charlie Pecora’s band, Way Out West, a perennial Southern Humboldt favorite. It continues into the evening with. The Bucky Walters Ban, a fresh young band hailing from the soggy bottoms of Arcata, California. This acoustic sextet offers an original, high energy performance and a foot-stompin’ fun atmosphere with a classic bluegrass string band instrumentation. Their sound strikes a nostalgic tone yet maintains a fresh, hot-pickin’ intensity, attracting music lovers across the board!
The event takes place in its new location at the Garberville Rodeo Grounds, east of Benbow. The space offers picnic tables, canopied for the event, the afternoon shade of large trees for the bandstand and breweries, and plenty of grassy space for visiting and dancing with the neighbors. As usual, there will be fun activities on hand for the kids, and an old-fashioned hayride. A silent auction of scrumptious vacation getaways and local arts & crafts will be beckoning bidders. Hospice works to make the Barbeque a green event. All plates, napkins, tableware are compostable.
Tickets are $25 for adults, $12 for children, (children under 5 are free) Tickets available at the gate or call the Hospice office, 923-7276. To get to the Rodeo Grounds, take the Benbow Exit off 101 and follow the signs east, an easy ten minute drive from Garberville. For more information, call Hospice at 923-7276.
