2010 Annual Juried Student Exhibition

What:

Humboldt State University’s Reese Bullen Gallery presents the 2010 Annual Juried Student Exhibition Thursday, April 15th.  A Wide variety of student-created artwork including drawings, paintings, photography, jewelry, printmaking, graphic design, ceramics and sculpture, will be on exhibit.  A series of prizes and scholarships acknowledging the achievements and creativity of Humboldt State University’s art students will be presented at an awards ceremony on Thursday April 15th at 5pm, followed immediately by an opening reception in the gallery until 7pm. The public is invited to attend. 

This year’s juror, Sean McFarland, an HSU alumnus who currently lives and works in San Francisco has selected over 90 artworks for the exhibition.  McFarland has been in numerous shows across the country including the Indianapolis Museum of Contemporary Art and the San Jose Museum of Art.  In 2005 he received the Phelan Art Award in photography.  His artwork has been written about in Artforum, Artweek and Flash Art.

The Reese Bullen Gallery, named in honor of a founding professor of the Art Department, was established in 1970.  This gallery is situated in Humboldt State’s Art Building, directly across from the Van Duzer Theatre.  The 2010 Annual Juried Student Exhibition runs from April 15th through May 15th.  The gallery is open 12-5pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, on Thursday from 12-7, and Saturday from 10-2.  All day parking permits for $3.50 are available; parking can be found using the Harpst Street detour, just off of LK Boulevard.  For more information, please contact our gallery staff at (707) 826-5814 or rbg@humboldt.edu.
