What:
In October of 1859 The Congregational Church became the first Protestant congregation in Eureka to build a church, on the shores of Humboldt Bay.
Over the last 150 years, the First Congregational Church has worshipped at four locations within Eureka.
Today, at their current home at the foot of J street the congregation continues its faith tradition of reaching out to all God’s people.
The First Congregational United Church of Christ remains the only church in Humboldt County to officially reach out to the lesbians, gay, and transgender people in our community by proclaiming themselves an open and affirming church.
During the first weekend in October the Church will open its doors even wider by celebrating the last 150 years with its congregation and the community. At the same time the church looks forward to the next 150 years and many more here in their Eureka home.
The First Congregational United Church of Christ invites the entire Humboldt County community to join in its 150th anniversary celebration, October 2-4, 2009.
