Indiana Summer

(observations on desire)

(Oct. 13, 2011)  In the dark room
Where the window is open
To summer

I watch the fireflies
Burn holes
Into the black
Flesh of night

Air
Thick as cigarette smoke
Lies yellow, heavy
In the bed with us

Did you know then,
How I went naked and alone
Through your unfamiliar house,
To the bathroom

And kneeling
Placed my face
My cheek tight
to tile

So cool
So black
And so white?

Indiana summers, passionate night skies, heat lightning, fire flies, trill of whip-poor-wills wafting. :)

Thank you.
