It's the sort of boorish behavior you really don't want to draw attention to -- because the jerks perpetrating such deeds so obviously seek attention. "Look at me, I can haz bash windoze and stick my thingamijiggy glue gun in door locks!"
However, since we're talking about vandalism to office buildings and businesses in Old Town Eureka in the wee hours of Saturday morning -- Treasure Troves' glass door, the Carson Block Building's three exterior doors' locks -- and because one of the victims said in an email to other Old Town merchants that there might have been more such creepiness, it's worth putting the word out. Plus, there's at least one videotape of a dude caught in the gluing act, shot by the Carson Block security camera.
The tape is not super clear, but the Northern California Indian Development Council's assistant director, Greg Gehr, posted it on YouTube in the hopes that other businesses that were hit might share their tapes. Maybe they can piece together their fuzzy images to arrive at a reliable, identifiable portrait of dissipation.
