Polling the Proles

Posted By on Thu, Nov 1, 2007 at 7:28 AM

Proving again that she's one of the savviest players around, Democracy Unlimited Director Kaitlin Sopoci-Belknap waits until 1 a.m. on Nov. 1 to send out this press release.

Thus avoiding the Halloween jokes. Or so she thought.

EUREKA - Democracy Unlimited of Humboldt County’s (DUHC) mission is to create genuine democracy in Humboldt County. To that end the group has launched a campaign to solicit input and feedback from Eureka residents about which issues are of concern to them. For the next month and a half, Democracy Unlimited is hitting the streets of Eureka to hear community concerns, register new voters and encourage community participation in the political process.

DUHC’s six week long Canvass Project began last week. The group plans to mobilize nearly 50 volunteers in the effort. Canvassers will go into low-income areas of Eureka and neighborhoods with large minority populations.
