- A blizzard of ping-pong balls fired from a "snowball cannon" drops toward the waiting crowd at Saturday's "Snowball Drop" at the Eureka Gazebo.
Some folks in Eureka saw flakes of the real deal drift to the ground Saturday, but just try redeeming one of
those things for a shopping discount.
Photographer Mark Larson was on hand at the Old Town Gazebo and snapped these fantastic shots of parents and kids catching "snowballs" [
They're ping-pong balls -Ed] that had been launched skyward from a makeshift cannon.
Each ball contained the name and address of a Eureka Main Street-member business, and the participating businesses will allow those balls to be redeemed for discounts and gifts through Christmas Eve. The event was sponsored by Eureka Main Street. Looks like Santa's got some competition this year.
